Depression Treatment - Cure Depression In Hours?
Some types of depression are considered "biochemical." These types of
depression are caused by internal biochemistry being out of balance. To help
with the depression and fix the biochemical imbalance, doctors usually prescribe
anti-depressants drugs, and within a few weeks people start feeling better.
Since our internal biochemistry is affecting our well being, then we can all
easily see that what we eat affects depression and how we feel. For example,
we've probably all eaten a lot of junk food at some point and started feeling
bad. Food directly affects our biochemistry. This is not hard to
understand.
The next thing that many people find amazing is that food can actually cause
mood swings and emotions. Bad mood swings can be caused by bad diet.
So if you are having feelings of depression or alarming black moods, it could
very well be due to one simple thing in your diet.
Refined white sugar.
Sugar
can sometimes be the sole cause of some forms of depression. It can affect your
moods. It can affect your attitude, whether you feel cheerful or irritable. So
if you are looking for some depression help, sugar could be the key.
Take sugar out of your diet for just a few days and see if you notice any
difference. Notice if having no refined sugar provided help with depression. I
did, and the difference was startling. I had more energy, more positive
feelings, and no dark mood swings after the second day. Blood sugar levels
affect more than just physical energy. Read the classic book Sugar Blues to
better understand all the ways that sugar can negatively affect your health and
well being.
Now, don't go thinking you have to give up sweets. Just give up the refined
white sugar. The health food store near you has many different natural
alternative sweeteners that won't give you the sugar blues. Things like
xylitol, agave
nectar and stevia are processed by the body differently and won't affect your
moods in the same way.
This means you don't have to
give up sweets,
which can be a depressing thought in itself.
So even if you don't have dark mood swings or feel other depression symptoms,
you can give up refined sugar for a week and test this out for yourself. If you
absolutely can't envision giving up the white stuff for a week, then you can try
a different form of this test that takes only half a day.
For breakfast or a midmorning snack, eat a couple doughnuts and nothing else.
Don't eat any protein with them, don't have coffee or soda or any form of caffeine
with them. Eating protein or having caffeine with the doughnuts will
mask and slow your biochemical response.
Notice how your body feels in about half an hour to an hour
after eating the doughnuts. If you don't pump yourself up with caffeine, you should notice you feel good and happy
and energized for about half an hour to 45 minutes, then you should start to
feel tired and irritable and groggy for the next two hours after that as your
blood sugar swings up then down.
We are each unique, so your reaction to sugar may be different than your friends
in some respects. But blood sugar swings caused by refined white sugar are well
documented medically. If you are looking for some simple natural depression
help, giving up sugar is a great place to begin. Your nearest doughnut store can
provide all the proof you need. Not all forms of depression are caused by sugar,
but this white powder is a major cause for many.
And, it may take several days for
your blood sugar to stop swinging so wildly, depending on how much junk food you
have been eating. But you'll have a great idea if you can stop dark mood
swings and resolve depression for yourself within a week!
